Reading Coor, English Coor & Grade One Teachers attend Reading & English District Meeting

"Tabula rasa" meaning empty. Empty ila manila paper(HAHAHA!) That is because with our quite number of reading programs, its so hard to choose which of them to be listed on this wee space of the paper. Walay nay mas dako pa ani?jejeje

Last January 27, 2012 at 3:00 PM, Mrs. Jessica A. Laguitao(School Reading Coordinator), Mrs. Miira S. Ellevera (School English Coordinator), and grade one teachers: Rowena L. Candog, Lucila Sustiguer and Elmira D. Salazar were sent to Davao City Special School for the Reading and English district meeting which was conducted by Mrs. Myla Rosario (District Reading Coordinator) and Mrs. Rosebel Narciso (District English Coordinator).
During the meeting, the topics discussed were the blogsite update, NAT preparation, school's reading plan and schedule of school's reading evaluation.
With regards to our blogsite, Mrs. Ellevera managed to update our site from time to time. The NAT preparation of our school was also on track; for as we know all LAGES teachers share in the rigid NAT review done everyday at 3:00 PM, aside from respective subject teachers reviews (For the record, last NAT 2011, our school placed 5th in the district ranking). While Mrs. Laguitao showed dedication in training teachers to be equipped with techniques and strategies in teaching reading.
However, there was a problem with the reading evaluation since other schools disagreed with the said activity. And as for our school, Mrs. Laguitao and Miss Ginaliza Nomio were already tasked by Dr. Arlenor T. Abelardo to take care of this matter.
There was a small group discussion about the reading programs of the respective schools. Mrs. Lguitao was able to comprehensively discuss our existing school's reading program. This was also made possible with the help of other LAGES teachers who were around on the meeting.
Mrs. Ignacio even commended our good reading programs. She find the remediation technique of our grade one teachers something which would be rewarding on the part of our readers-at-risk since they were grouped according to their reading level. Hence, she believed that the appropriate help will be extended to them.
The meeting ended at 5:30 PM. Our teachers might have went home tired but they never have turned their backs on their mission. . to make every child a reader.
